Texas-New Mexico Power

Texas-New Mexico Power serves three separate areas: towns north of Dallas, the coast between Houston and Galveston, and Far West Texas. If TNMP delivers your power, you still choose who sells it.

TNMP vs. your electricity provider

At your address, TNMP and your retail provider split the job. You can't pick your utility, but you can pick your provider.

TNMPSet by your address

  • Delivers power to your home
  • Owns the poles, wires and meters
  • Reads your meter
  • Restores power after outages

Your retail providerYou choose

  • Sets your price per kWh
  • Sends your bill
  • Answers billing questions
  • Sets your contract term and fees

TNMP delivery charges

TNMP's delivery charges are the same no matter which provider you choose. Your provider passes them through on your bill, and plan prices on PowerChoiceTexas.org already include them.

Residential chargeAmount
Monthly customer charge$7.56 per month
Delivery charge per kWh7.771¢ per kWh
Total on a 1,000 kWh month$85.27

Residential rates effective Sep 13, 2026. Interim rates until the PUCT issues a final order in TNMP's rate case. Texas utilities' delivery rates usually change in March and September.

Power outages

Report a TNMP outage

Contact TNMP, not your electricity provider. TNMP owns the poles, wires and meters, so it's the one that restores your power. Check your breakers first: if only your home is dark, the problem may be inside.

How to save on electricity in TNMP's area

TNMP's delivery charges are the same with every provider, so your savings come from the plan you pick and how much power you use.

  1. Compare plans at your usage. Every plan's Electricity Facts Label (EFL) shows an average price at 500, 1,000 and 2,000 kWh, and that price already includes TNMP's delivery charges. Compare at the usage closest to yours.
  2. Check for bill credits and usage fees. A plan with a bill credit at exactly 1,000 kWh can cost much more in a month when you use 990 or 1,800 kWh.
  3. Choose fixed or variable on purpose. A fixed-rate plan holds your price for the contract term. A variable-rate plan can change every month.
  4. Watch your contract end date. Renew or switch before it ends, so you don't roll onto a higher month-to-month rate.
  5. Use less in summer peaks. Raising your thermostat a few degrees and sealing leaks around doors and windows cuts the biggest part of most Texas bills.
